The building mass is wrapped around a well ventilated and landscaped courtyard, creating a sense of place (an additional room, a private and protected exterior space) . Courtyards extend sight lines and allow small spaces to feel larger . As the courtyard is shaded most of the day hours, it helps in reducing the thermal pressure, solar exposure and glare from reflected sun rays and also plays an important role in enhancing the air movement in the building as the hot air in the court moves upward letting the cool air to flow from the rooms' windows replacing the hot air in the court . Green areas and water features in the court helps in reducing the air temperature and purifying the air from dusts . The courtyard helps the building achieve the interaction between the inhabitants and the elements of the surrounding environment such as the sun, sky, rain .

The target for this shopping complex project is to attract more number of people to visit, with their different age and culture levels . This makes public spaces in the shopping mall very important design element . Varied commercial activates situated around the food court focus in the everyday needs of locals . At the same time lobbies, child play parks(small) and recharge areas look to create a social buzz around the center

The design philosophy is to build efficient and interesting structure which is useful, comfortable , and airy . Towards the rear end of the building envelope there is a landscaped garden which acts as a source of fresh air into the structure which promotes warmth in the building . High priority is given towards energy conservation with a tendency towards simple and economical means such as buffering, zoning, insulating, solar heating, day lighting, shading, and natural ventilation . Open and semi open spaces(skylight) of the building are used for both climatic as well as aesthetic reasons, where they form a characteristic feature of the building itself .

The project has been designed in such way that it meets requirement as prescribed in energy conservation building code(ECBC) . The project consists of 3 blocks : Admin 1 ( G+ 1 floors), admin 2 (ground floor only) and canteen block(ground floor only) . Based on the climatic condition and solar geometry, different facades of the building obtain varying amounts of heat from the sun and the climate of the building location have a stronger influence on the building design . The three blocks are connected between each other by a tube/tunnel . The building uses different design approach to heat, cool, and light building in the most efficient and effective manner . T he design process starts at the very beginning by analyzing site and climatic conditions using advanced tools, and on - site observations to determine the appropriate environmental strategies for the building blocks
